Most candidates stick to glad-handing and baby-kissing, but Queens Councilwoman Melinda Katz sings a different tune - God Bless America.
(And if it's a Jewish crowd, Hatikvah, the Israeli national anthem).
Brawl for the Hall joined the controller candidate for a series of lunchtime events at Coney Island senior centers today -- and returned with exclusive video of her musical serenades.
Rather than bore the hungry diners with a stump speech about the economy or pension fund investing, she grabbed the microphone, introduced herself, pronouncing her name several times so the seniors would remember it in the voting booth, then she burst into song.
Katz, who grew up singing with her orchestra-director father and recently sang the National Anthem at Shea Stadium, routinely sings on the stump, she says.
Check out a clip of her singing "God Bless America" after the jump.
